Sharon Yvonne Stone is the sole child born to Dorothy Lawson (an accountant) and Joseph William Stone II, an engineer and tool maker. She was also a employee in a manufacturing plant. Her birth date was 10 March 1958, at Meadville Pennsylvania. She has three siblings: Michael, Kelly, and Patrick. Stone was considered academically gifted in her early years and entered the second grade when she was five. In 1975 Stone graduated from Saegertown high school in Saegertown (Pennsylvania). Also, Stone competed and won the Miss Pennsylvania beauty contest. Stone was able to move to New Jersey with her aunt in 1977 to explore a modeling career. She did so and signed up with the Ford Modeling Agency within a month. While in Europe she spent a full year in Milano and Paris. Stone however became disillusioned in Europe in the modeling industry and opted to go to acting. The film of Woody Allen, "Stardust Memories", got mixed praise when she was 20.
